How moderated audience Q&A works
Moderated Q&A puts a review step between the audience and the screen. Attendees open a submit link, usually by scanning a QR code shown on the venue display, and send a question from the phone already in their hand; there is no app to install and no account to create. Every submission lands in a private moderation queue where a moderator can approve, reject, pin, or mark it answered. Only approved questions reach the public display, so duplicates, off-topic questions, and anything inappropriate never appear in the room. Submit, moderate, and display are three separate links, which keeps the audience experience simple while the moderator keeps full control of what is on screen.
Open floor or moderated, chosen per event
Moderation is on by default and can be turned off per session. In open mode a question reaches the room screen the moment it is sent, which suits small internal sessions where speed matters more than filtering. In moderated mode questions wait in the private queue until a moderator approves them, which is the right default for town halls, all-hands, and conference panels. Names can be made optional so attendees can ask anonymously, which is often where the most useful all-hands questions come from, and moderators still review every question before it appears. Audience upvotes can be enabled when approved questions are visible on the submit page, so the room helps sort what matters most.
What the room sees
The audience display is deliberately sparse: the submit QR code plus the questions a moderator has chosen to show. Up to five questions can be pinned as a short stack, so a speaker works through them in order without losing the thread, and each can be marked answered as the session moves on. Because the display link is just a web page, it opens on a venue screen, a shared monitor, or the laptop feeding the projector. Sharing the submit link before the session works too: questions collected in advance land in the same moderation queue, so a moderator can review and rank them before the first speaker starts.

Do attendees need an app or an account to ask a question?

Yes. Names can be made optional per session, so staff at a town hall or all-hands can ask honestly. Moderators still review every question before it appears on screen.

Can someone help moderate without a Questro account?
Yes, on a paid plan. Guest moderator links hand moderation to a colleague without giving them a Questro login. On the Free plan the account owner needs to be signed in to moderate.
